Euler Impulse Pelton Formulation:
• Water Jet Velocity: Vj = Cv · √(2·g·Hnet) [m/s]
• Runner Pitch Diameter: D1 = (60 · ku · Vj) / (π · N) [m]
• Tygun Buckets Formula: Zb = round(0.5 · (D1/dj) + 15)
• Shaft Power: Pshaft = ρ · Q · g · Hnet · ηoverall [MW].

📘 Calculation Methodology & Pelton Turbine Standards

Impulse Turbine Kinematics

All pressure energy is converted into kinetic energy in stationary needle nozzles, generating high-velocity water jets ($V_j > 100\,\text{m/s}$) that strike double-spoon buckets at atmospheric pressure.

Bucket Splitter & 165° Deflection

The central splitter ridge divides the jet symmetrically into two equal streams, deflecting them through $165^\circ$ to extract virtually all kinetic energy without interfering with the subsequent bucket.

Key Engineering Assumptions

  • IEC 60193 hydraulic impulse turbine standards.
  • Tygun bucket count empirical correlation.
  • Widely used in high-head mountain hydroelectric plants ($H > 150\,\text{m}$).
