📘 Calculation Methodology & Pelton Turbine Standards
Impulse Turbine Kinematics
All pressure energy is converted into kinetic energy in stationary needle nozzles, generating high-velocity water jets ($V_j > 100\,\text{m/s}$) that strike double-spoon buckets at atmospheric pressure.
Bucket Splitter & 165° Deflection
The central splitter ridge divides the jet symmetrically into two equal streams, deflecting them through $165^\circ$ to extract virtually all kinetic energy without interfering with the subsequent bucket.
Key Engineering Assumptions
- IEC 60193 hydraulic impulse turbine standards.
- Tygun bucket count empirical correlation.
- Widely used in high-head mountain hydroelectric plants ($H > 150\,\text{m}$).
