๐Ÿงบ Solid-Liquid Leaching Calculator

Estimate solute recovery from solids using single-stage washing or countercurrent multi-stage Kremser-style leaching. Outputs recovery, wash ratio and required stage count.

๐Ÿ“ Configuration

โš™๏ธ Mode
๐Ÿงฑ Solid Feed
๐Ÿ’ฆ Solvent / Underflow Data
If U is larger than 10, engine treats it as total retained solution flow.
๐ŸŽฏ Design Target
For ideal washing use m = 1. Higher m means solute favors retained liquid/solid phase.
Key Equations:

Wash ratio: W = V/U
Kremser factor: E = W/m
Countercurrent residual fraction approximation: XN/X0 = (Eโˆ’1)/(EN+1โˆ’1)
Recovery = 1 โˆ’ XN/X0

๐Ÿ“˜ Calculation Methodology

Mathematical Model

The calculator models ideal equilibrium washing/leaching with retained underflow solution and fresh solvent. Multi-stage countercurrent behavior is estimated with a Kremser-style extraction factor.

Worked Example

A solid feed with Xโ‚€ = 0.15 kg/kg dry solid is washed using V/U = 1.6 over 5 stages. The engine computes residual loading after each stage and reports total solute recovery and stage requirement for a target recovery.

Assumptions

  • Constant underflow retention.
  • Ideal stage equilibrium.
  • Fresh solvent contains negligible solute.
  • No particle diffusion kinetics or incomplete mixing correction included.
